The Indian Panorama, one of the well-planned itineraries of the Indian luxury train, Maharajas’ Express, offers a journey into the bygone era, couples with spirituality, architecture and culture. This 8- day train tour itinerary takes you to some of the most well-known destinations of India including Delhi, Jaipur, Ranthambore, Fatehpur Sikri, Agra, Gwalior, Orchha, Khajuraho, Varanasi and Lucknow. Not only are the tour experiences memorable, but your time on-board the train is going to be memorable too. Some of the highlights are world heritage site of Fatehpur Sikri and Khajurao, wildlife safari in Ranthambore and the world-wonder of Taj Mahal in Agra.

Detail Itinerary

Arrive at the Safdarjung railway station of Delhi. Get a traditional welcome. Complete the check-in formalities as you enjoy the welcome drink. Settle into your cabins. The luxury train now begins its journey for the first destination, Jaipur, the 'Pink City' of Rajasthan. Savour dinner on-board.

Stay overnight at Maharaja's Express train.

On day 2, the train has arrived in Jaipur. Enjoy breakfast on-board the train, followed by a sightseeing tour of Jaipur. Begin the city tour with the mighty Amer Fort, built on a hilltop. A world heritage site, this fort is quite popular for its architectural design and aesthetic appearance. Enjoy an elephant safari or a jeep ride up to the entrance of the Fort. Later, continue visiting the popular attractions of Jaipur, including the City Palace (the official residence of the royal family of Jaipur) or Jai Mahal Palace for indulging in elephant activities such as painting them or feeding them or enjoying a ride. Relish lunch at a city restaurant.

Thereafter, you can return to the train for relaxing or can relax with a refreshing spa at a Palace hotel or go for shopping or enjoy golfing at Rambagh Goff Club or visit the City Palace or Jantar Mantar, the royal observatory, which is a world heritage site. Later, back to the train that chugs off for the next destination. Enjoy dinner while treating your eyes to the views of Indian landscape.

Overnight stay.

In the morning, arrive at Sawai Madhopur, housing the world-popular Ranthambore National Park. Savour breakfast on- board the Maharajas' Express. Thereafter, go for the wildlife safari at the Ranthambore National Park. It is one of the finest Tiger reserves in India and is also one of the country's largest national parks.

Return to the Indian luxury train, which departs for the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Fatehpur Sikri. Lunch on-board. The train arrives at the wonderful Fatehpur Sikri. The deserted Mughal capital city was once a flouring gems, also has several structures in its boundaries. Back on-board the train for dinner.

Overnight stay.

The train reaches The Mughal City of Agra today. Disembark and get ready for a visit to one of the 'Seven Wonders of the World', the Taj Mahal. An architectural marvel, this white marble mausoleum was constructed in the memory of Empress Mumtaz Mahal, by his husband, Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. Enjoy a memorable breakfast session with champagne at the Taj Khema. Return on-board the train, which now starts its journey for Gwalior. Lip-smacking lunch is served aboard the Maharajas' Express.

On reaching, get all set for a city tour of Gwalior including Gwalior Fort- an eighth century hill-fort with temples, palaces and water tanks in its boundaries, Sas Bahu temple or Sahastrabau temple- constructed in 1092 by King Mahipala of the Kachchhapaghata dynasty and Jain Cave Sculptures- known for stunning carvings. The other option is of enjoying a relaxing spa session at a popular palace hotel. The evening is scheduled for a visit to the Jai Vilas Palace museum, which houses a wonderful collection of arts and artefacts. This is followed by Hi -Tea in the Palace compound. Back to luxury train which starts for Khajuraho.

Overnight stay on-board.

On the 5th day, as the train enters Khajuraho, enjoy your breakfast on-board. There is some free time in the morning and you can enjoy the facilities being offered aboard the Maharajas' Express train. Treat your eyes to the wonderful scenery. In the afternoon, proceed towards the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Khajuraho Group of Monuments. Enjoy a visit to the Western group of temples, known for promoting erotica. A group of Hindu and Jain temples, constructed by the Chola rulers, have wonderful sculptures of humans, animals and mythical creatures.

Thereafter, you can relax with a rejuvenating spa session at a city hotel or return to the train to simply relax. You can also attend the sound and light show or Dances of India show. The train now leaves for Varanasi. Enjoy dinner.

Stay overnight on the train.

The train enters Varanasi railway station today. Breakfast on-board the train. Later, get ready for enjoy sightseeing in one of the holiest Indian cities- Varanasi. Located on the banks of the holy Ganges River, this city is known to be one of the oldest cities in the world. Here you visit the Silk Weaving centre, a small-scale manufacturing industry where weaving is done within the household.

Special lunch at a luxury hotel is followed by a visit to the Buddhist pilgrimage site of Sarnath. Explore the ruins and the museum, housing Buddhist relics and artefacts. Sarnath is around 10 km from Varanasi and has the deer park where Buddha delivered his first speech after enlightenment.

Thereafter, enjoy a boat ride on the waters of River Ganges. Do not miss out on the breath-taking site of evening Arti, which is the river worship ceremony. The reflection of the beautifully lit-lamps in the flowing water looks mesmerizing. Back to the train. Enjoy your dinner on-board the Maharajas' Express.

Overnight stay.

In the morning, the train arrives in the 'City of Nawabs' Lucknow while you are relishing breakfast. Disembark from the Indian luxury train and go for a city tour of Lucknow including Chota Imambara, the Residency, Bada Imambara and the Rumi Darwaza. All these structures are known for their impressive architecture and royal magnificence. This is followed by a cocktail lunch at a famous luxury hotel. Return to the comforts of Maharaja's express, which starts its return journey to Delhi. On-board entertainment is a grand ''Indian Evening' followed by dinner.

Overnight stay.

The train is back in Delhi, marking the end of the luxury train tour. Enjoy sumptuous breakfast, complete the check-out, and enjoy a traditional farewell.

Payment
  • Pay 25% of tour cost at least 90 days or more prior to departure date and pay remaining amount 60 days prior to departure date.
  • Pay 100% of the tour cost if you are booking 59 days prior to departure date.
  • You will have to pay all bank charges.
  • The prevailing rate of exchange on the date of transaction would be applicable
Cancellation Policy

The cancellation policy that is followed by the train is as:

  • 60 days or more prior to departure, 25% of published price.
  • 45 to 59 days prior to departure, 50% of the published price.
  • 0 to 44 days prior to departure, 100% of the published price.
