  • Type : Dance & Music
  • Dates : 25-02-2020 - 03-03-2020
  • Location : Khajuraho

Khajuraho Dance Festival is a celebration of the classical dance forms in India. Held at the spectacular backdrop of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Khajuraho Temples, the festival is an extraordinary event. Madhya Pradesh Department of Culture organizes the annual event to revived, relived and celebrate Indian Classical Dance with some spectacular performances by masters of the art.

All the classical dances of India have their roots in the ancient text, Natya Shastra which is said to be penned down by Bharata Muni around 5000 years back. The festival marks some of the most amazing classical dance forms- Bharatanatyam (Tamil Nadu), Kathak (North, West and Central India), Kathakali (Kerala), Kuchipudi (Andhra Pradesh), Odissi (Odissa), Manipuri (Manipur), Mohiniyattam (Kerala), and Sattriya (Assam).

The dance performances at the festival are truly out of the world. The beautiful attires, the melodious beats, elegant expressions, intricate hand gestures called mudras, depict everyday life stories or extracts from ancient mythological texts. The open-air auditorium outside the exquisite temples of Khajuraho showcased in front of the charming Vishwanatha or the Chitragupt Temple adds to the thrill of the dance performances.

Experience the richness of Indian culture in form of dance at the enrapturing setting of Khajuraho. Plan to attend the fiesta with Golden Triangle with Khajuraho tour package.
